The Main Library is open


The library opens for SGGW staff, doctoral students and university students.

  • The Main Library:
    Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
    Maximal number of patrons: 42
  • The Library of the Veterinary Medicine Faculty is open
    Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
    Maximal number of patrons: 4
  • The Library of Human Nutrition Faculty is open
    Monday thru Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
    Maximal number of patrons: 4
  • The Library of the Construction and Environmental Engineering Faculty is open
    Tuesday, Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
    Maximal number of patrons: 3


  1. Users are obliged to wear face protection masks when entering the Library. No service will be provided to people who do not cover their noses and mouth with face protection masks.
  2. Hand disinfection and a distance of at least 2 meters are required.
  3. Only 1 person at a time is allowed at the Librarian’s desk.
  4. Short-term lending is currently unavailable until further notice.
  5. Storage lockers are currently unavailable. Backpacks and handbags are allowed in the Reading Room.
  6. Touch devices: computers with the Internet access, scanners, copiers and self-service book lending machines will not be available, with the exception of catalogue computers – see below.

Rules of the Reading Room:

Maximum of 42 persons may be present in the Reading Room at any time. No prior visit arrangements are required.

Readers are obliged to see a Librarian on duty in order to be shown to an available work area. There is no possibility of group work at this time.

Readers will have no possibility of searching for books on the shelves. All required materials must be searched for in the Library catalogue (best at home) and ordered directly at the Librarian’s desk or online. Catalogue computers (OPAC) will be available for readers who do not have a possibility to search the catalogue outside of the Library. Please apply hand disinfectants before using a computer.

Each request slip should contain the following information:

  • call number (called "location" in the online catalog) in case of books from the closed stacks (Library Store Room)
  • call number and the section number in case of books from the Open Stacks section
  • call number, volume number and issue number in case of a journal
  • call number, not the PKN number in case of standards

Instead of your PESEL, please provide your telephone number on your request slip, in order to enable an easy access, in case of epidemic investigation. For this reason, orders will be stored for 2 weeks.

Returned books will be subject to a three-day quarantine time before they can be borrowed again. Please do not order copies marked “Quarantined – do not order” in their date of return box.

The patrons are kindly asked to use their own writing implements.


Students’ Coursebook Lending Library

  1. Temporarily, during the pandemics, up to 10 volumes can be borrowed for up to 30 days.
  2. In order to minimise the risk of infection, we advise you to order online from your own computers.
  3. Ordering borrowed books will be suspended until further notice.
  4. Returned books will be subject to a three-day quarantine time before they can be borrowed again. Please do not order copies marked “Quarantined – do not order” in their date of return box.
  5. There will be no overdue fine for the time our Library remained closed. Any earlier fines must be settled and confirmed with a copy of payment sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. – a precondition for borrowing books and for obtaining a signature on a clearance slip.
  6. Return deadlines can be extended remotely.

Rules of the Faculty Libraries

Maximal number of patrons allowed to use the Reading Room simultaneously:

Veterinary Medicine Faculty Library – 4 persons

Human Nutrition Faculty Library – 4 persons

The Library of the Faculty of Construction and Environmental Engineering – 3 persons

No prior visit arrangements are required.
